The rotational mold is a production method for creating a plastic case. The procedure includes filling a mold with plastic, heating the plastic, and then rotating the mold slowly. The heat continues to melt the plastic while the rotation allows the heat to be distributed evenly to create a solid case. While some may not believe a rotational mold is the best way to create a case, they fail to realize the benefits that come from using a rotational mold.
• Cost-A rotational mold has a low cost to begin production and doesn’t increase by much as production continues. A rotational mold can also include other applications to the case like different colors and metal threads that won’t have to be added once the case has been created. Because the time doesn’t need to be used to add on these features, the overall cost of creating the case is cheaper than other mold options.
• Production- A rotational mold has a shorter production time in comparison to other mold options such as blow molding and injection molding. Production can begin with a rotational mold in about three months, where production typically begins after six months with an injection mold. This means you can produce twice as much with a rotational mold in comparison to an injection mold.
• Durability- Because of the way a rotational mold distributes the heat to the plastic, your case will have an even thickness in each wall. This means that your case will be able to handle more stress and activity in comparison to other plastic cases.
